We’re Moving Home

Lift and shift

Over the next week we are moving home.

During that time we will try to minimise disruption as best we can.  The site will temporarily be available at https://musicscramble.wordpress.com whilst we make the necessary changes in the background. Of course, we aim to be at the usual address around the middle of the month.

Thank you for your continued support – we really appreciate it.

Gazz Marlow and Exit Ten Launch New Campaigns

Pledge Music LogoIt’s not too often that Musicscramble does a fairly straight forward promo post. Two of our favourite artists have recently launched projects via the excellent Pledgemusic.com, which has previously seen InMe, Charlie Simpson and Ben Folds amongst many others release fan funded albums, so it seems silly not to tell you about lots of new music!

First off is InMe’s guitarist Gazz Marlow as he follows in the footsteps of band mate Dave McPherson and launches his first solo project titled “Situations”.  We recently talked to him about his solo work and recent tour, so once you’ve pledged on his campaign, and grabbed your free download of the “Seagull Samaritan” demo, be sure to check out our interview.

Secondly, Exit Ten are aiming to release a bootleg EP of rarities. A bargain at £6, fans of the band are sure to want to get involved in this one. You can pledge on their project here, plus when they hit 100% of their target they will be releasing unheard song “Universe” as a thank you.

Both projects have lots of extras and incentives available including a 6-a-side footy game with Exit Ten and more importantly the two campaigns will see a percentage of the pledges donated to Sussex Cancer Fund and Cancer Research UK respectively, so not only do you get new music, you get to feel good about it too. You don’t get that sort of thing on iTunes, do you! So please, support your favourite artists and get involved.

We intend to keep going with this trend and will soon be moving to new hosting to help support that growth. We would love you to help us grow bigger too: if you think any of your friends would like to read our articles then please use the Share buttons at the bottom of that article, or share our Facebook page and get them to hit “LIKE“. Show them the site and encourage them to visit us regularly, but also importantly we hope you keep coming back too.

You can subscribe to email alerts at the very bottom of this page, and to our RSS feed to be kept informed.

Here we go to 3000 views a month….

RIP MCA

I was extremely saddened to read a few hours ago of the death of Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch. It is believed he died of the cancer which he was diagnosed with in 2009.

The band was terrific on album, and even better live; a pleasure I was lucky enough to experience many times. I think then it is fitting to end this post with a clip of where my memories of Adam lie….on stage. This clip is from a phenomenal T in the Park performance I witnessed back in 1998. Fei Comodo – New Album News

Fei ComodoYou know something; I’m beginning to really love Pledge Music. The charitable funding source has given me much pleasure from Funeral For A Friend, Charlie Simpson, The Subways and most recently InMe. Next up is Ginger’s triple album 555%, but the primary focus of this little piece is to encourage some support for one of my new favourite bands.

Fei Comodo, recently seen touring the UK with Exit Ten, are scheduled to release their new album Behind The Bright Lights via Small Town Records on April 30th, but wanted to create a special edition of the album. They’ve teamed up with Pledge Music and are offering an exclusive hand numbered special edition in different packaging and with some bonus tracks and video content alongside the regular CD. If you don’t want the physical disc, you can pledge for a download of both the album and the special edition second disk goodies too. Continue reading

Moviescramble

Moviescramble

In case you didn’t know, Musicscramble has a sister site all about movies – Moviescramble. Like Musicscramble, it’s a mixture of reviews and opinions and doesn’t spend its time gushing about things that aren’t as hot as they should be.

We have a new writer, John, who’s been quite prolific since he started mid January, so please take a look, bookmark it, or even better yet, follow via Facebook, Twitter and/or WordPress and come back to check out regular updates.

Free Straight Lines Track

Straight Lines - Freaks Like UsFollowing yesterday’s free Soulfly track offer, today XtraMile Recordings have released a free Straight Lines track called “Freaks Like Us”.

I’m a huge fan of the band and featured their first album Persistence In This Game in my “8 Albums You’ve Probably Never Heard But Should” feature, so I urge you to grab the freebie, check out the video for forthcoming first single “Half Gone”, and go buy the first album too!

You can grab the free song directly from XtraMile Recordings landing page.

“Freaks Like Us” is the title track from their second album, due for release on 23rd April.
