Paul’s Top Ten 2012

Xmas comes but once a year and brings along with it the decorated trees, inflated Visa bill and those cool little sausages wrapped in bacon. It also signifies the beginning of the end of the year and thus the regular festive tradition of the top ten season. So here’s my top ten albums released this year. Sadly not wrapped in bacon.

Lamb of God - Resolution10. Lamb of God – Resolution

Lamb of God have had a bit of an up and down year with singer Randy Blythe still currently being accused of manslaughter in the Czech Republic. At least the year started off better with the release of Resolution. It’s a rocking album full of the usual variety of high powered riffs, chugging guitar and awesome drums you’d expect to hear. There’s a little variety this time round too with one song featuring some orchestrated parts. Maybe not the best entry in the discography, but a damn good record that I’m still enjoying even though it was released in January. Continue reading

Lamb of God – Resolution (2012)

Lamb of God - ResolutionLamb of God kick off the 2012 with what I consider to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year already. It’s been just over two years 2 years since Wrath was unleashed to a decent reception. Certainly it was the most polished and well produced album they’d ever created and the same is true of Resolution.

There’s absolutely no doubt who you’re listening to as it’s very distinctly a Lamb of God creation with all it’s volume, powerful drumming, glorious guitar work with some blistering solos, and the ear splitting shrieks wails and screams, but for me there’s just something missing to give it that ‘must listen’ factor. Box Set: Lamb of God

With the recent announcement that Lamb of God will release seventh album “Resolution” early next year, now seems a good time to take a look at their studio history at the latest in our Box Set series. Lamb of God have been a firm favourite of mine from the first time I heard a tiny snippet on a Wanadoo Broadband advert (which you can see at the bottom of the page).

Forming in 1994 under the moniker Burn the Priest, Lamb of God have released 6 studio albums, a live album and three DVD’s. They’ve supported some of the biggest names in metal such as Motorhead, and toured the world several times over under their own headline banner. Lamb of God have come a long way over the years and have firmly placed themselves as one of the top metal bands of the last decade. Continue reading

Lamb of God – New Album…

Lamb of God - ResolutionLamb of God have officially confirmed the title and track listing of their forthcoming sixth studio album. The album will be named “Resolution” and is scheduled for release on January 24th 2012.

Somewhat strangely, at least one track on the album is set to feature a choir and orchestra. Drummer Chris Adler told Gun Shy Assassin, “Yeah — there’s opera singers, a whole symphony going on — it’s crazy,” … “We were trying to figure out how to not be black metal but do something totally different. I think we succeeded.” Continue reading
